Sal served Edythe Cullen and Beau Swan the night Beau was nearly killed by a group of gangsters while on his way back to his friends after an attempt to find a suitable bookstore. When Sal takes Beau's order on mushroom ravioli and Coke, he pays more attention to Edythe than to him, showing his attraction to her, while she brushes him off.
